Healani Canoe Club was established in 1890. The club became a member of OHCRA in 1950 and was given the number designation of 1. The other founding members of OHCRA were Outrigger Canoe Club, Waikiki Surf Club, and Hui Nalu Canoe Club. Healani made its home at the Ala Wai canal.

Healani won the fiberglass division of the men's Moloka'i race in 1966, 1967, and 1968. We also won the koa division in 1970 and 1971. The women won the Moloka'i crossing in 1979.
